April 20th Still Life Session

We had fun drawing from two still life setups. Thanks to Autumn and Loretta for bringing objects to supplement the plants and copper.

I am posting photos of the still lifes as well as our sketches. Hopefully, some of us will finish these out with color.

I urge other members to create a version of their own and post them, too!

New Direction

I hope everyone got the email with the survey summary. It's clear everyone wants more doing and less talking.

Our next meeting will focus on actively making art. I will bring a few items for a still life. I hope others will contribute some interesting objects. We'll make it up on the spot.

Bring your art materials and we'll work as we make plans for the future. If you have an ongoing project you'd prefer to work on, feel free to bring it.

For the moment, we'll continue to meet at the Scappoose Senior Center. See you at 10 a.m., April 20th!

Columbia Arts Guild Survey

Dear Members and Friends,

We have created a survey to help Columbia Arts Guild refocus and plan for the future of the group. By placing it online, the statistics will be compiled in charts that are easy to use and no one has to sit and count boxes. I promise you, this site is safe and will not market to you or try sell you anything because they don't have or collect ANY contact information about you. At the end of the survey, it will offer you a chance to take others. Feel free to ignore their request; it has no effect on our survey.

The survey consists of 10 questions, most of them multiple choice. The last question offers you a chance to express your vision for our group. Please, fill out all the questions as well as this last box no matter how short your answer or what you have to say. It is anonymous.

While this is intended to be a semi-closed survey of our members and related persons, it is not exclusive. Feel free to share the link with others in the area who have an interest in art whether they teach, sell or just do it for fun.

Click here to take the survey: < http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JDNG839>

Please, take it as soon as possible, but only once. It will remain open until March 31st.

I will also post this information to the Guild blog and website.

Thank you all,
Catherine Ridenour

I found the horse to be a challenge to paint. Every muscle, tendon & vein is defined. If you don't get them right it just doesn't work. I do love the outcome though with the desert colors reflecting off of the white horse.
