Sunrise over Mt. Hood

My sister has requested a silhouette painting from each of her sisters, and this is what I painted for her.  I hope she likes it.
It's patterned after the photo below, which I took in March 2012 from Scappoose.
P.S. the dark is not black and up close you can see the shapes.  It didn't photograph very well.

http://studioatelier.blogspot.com/

No picture right now.....I just wanted to suggest to our blog followers and guild members to check out this link, http://studioatelier.blogspot.com/   and perhaps to become an active participant as a way to keep in practice if you are a painter or a sketch artist. ....especially if you are in a rut...and don't know what to paint or draw.  I even submitted one carved in leather once....the rules to posting are on the Studio Atelier blog. Barb Benik of Studio Atelier will begin with a new picture after the new year.  However, she will accept your images of past posted challenge photos too.  It helps to keep your creative juices flowing.
Happy Painting.

Two weeks ago we spent a week in E. Oregon along the banks
of the Imnaha River.  This pen and watercolor sketch of the
huge granite boulders was done from the riverbank near our campsite

This painting was started on location at Carolyn King's and finished in the studio. The dock was a great place to paint. Thank you so much for the invitation Carolyn.

I hope to see Autumn's rendition posted in here soon and some of Carolyn's wonderful watercolors too.

Autumn and Carolyn walking along in the Rocky Point  Marina where Carolyn invited us to paint. There were so many views to choose from! The view South, roots along the bank, the view from the bank, and tons more. It was a great place and a very nice day to paint. Thanks Carolyn.

Mt Shasta Bear

Mt Shasta Bear
12" x 12"
Acrylic on Canvas

Take your friends by the Masonic Building in Olde Towne St. Helens to see this and more.

Mt Shasta Bear
Sky Spirit came to earth and formed Mount Shasta.
He brought his family to this new home.
He made Grizzly and placed him at the base.
When Sky Spirit’s daughter became lost, Grizzly found her.
Grizzly shared his home where she grew, wed
and gave birth to a new creation.
These were the ancestors of the tribes.
The Bear on my door post guards me.
I must guard the Grizzly.

Basket making fun.

At our February guild meeting Kathie Fellows taught us to make seagrass baskets. It was so much fun that I have ordered several sizes of seagrass to experiment with. I can't wait to see what I can create. Just so much fun.
