"Riding Through Winters Wonderland"

I painted this for my sister in law for Christmas and wanted to share it with you.  I enjoy painting Mt. Hood and I use my "Artist's License" to add interesting foregrounds......ie....the horses and riders.

2011 Art Show pictures

These pictures are taken mostly for security purposes the night before the show so they don't do justice to the artwork but at least you can get a feel for the show.

If you see your work and want to identify it post a comment.

2011 Art Show

These are a few of the paintings entered in the 2011 Annual Columbia Arts Guild Show & Sale. I will try to post more as I remember.

Loretta Demonstrating

Instead of renting tables this year we chose to do demos and this is what Loretta did. Lots of folks stopped and chatted with her.

Catherine Ridenour also did a tatting demo and drew lots of attention. Sorry I was so busy getting instruction from her I forgot to take her picture. :-(

Remember that free membership?

It was decided that we as the Columbia Arts Guild do a bit of advertising at the county fair and give out one free membership as an art award. Yesterday I met with her in Clatskanie before a meeting I had to attend. Her name is Mary Duvall and it was great to finally meet her face to face. I have had her on the email list for some time and had no idea who she was. Now I have a face to go with the name. Our decision to reach out at the fair was a very good one.

Loretta Painting

This Loretta painting at the McCormick park paint out too. She found a great spot along the creek with an island in the middle to paint.
Sorry the photos are blurry. I stole them from Susan's posting in the WA website.

Glen Carr at McCormick Park

This is Glen Carr talking to me (Maeona) at the paint out. He does mostly abstracts but he came to meet some of us. No I am not wearing a skirt. That is my jacket hanging on the handle of my luggage carrier.

Art Guild May 2011 Meeting

Hi all:
I wanted to remind everyone about the Art Guild meeting Saturday 5-21-11.
Come prepared to have some fun learning how to Carve Leather....(tooling).  Many of you may have dabbled in it before and for those who have never tried it, here is your chance.  I'll bring all of the supplies.  Mostly we'll be working on scrap leather.  I also have some 6" leather rounds for $2 each (my cost) for anyone who would like to create something fancier.

April 2011 Meeting

The April Art Guild Meeting will be held at the Scappoose Senior Center, 10 a.m. Saturday the 16th.  Bring something to work on while we chat.  Loretta is gathering information and goodies for the May meeting so she can share how to do some leather tooling with us. Who would have known we had so many talents. ;-) Now that we have a place where we can paint or whatever, Let's hear what you want to do.

Tatting lesson at January Guild Meeting

Please join us for the January meeting at the Scappoose Senior Center., tomorrow, Sat. Jan. 15th at 10:00 a.m. Our featured activity is a lesson in shuttle tatting. I will have shuttles and thread for those who do not have them. You can purchase them for $4. There will be handouts showing the basic technique and a simple pattern for practice.

A second lesson is planned for the February meeting. Just as Rome was not built in a day, you don't learn to tat in an hour.

Horse's eye

I drew two versions of the horse's eye from Annetta's colored pencil class.  I thoroughly enjoyed learning about colored pencils.

This was my second attempt with a variation.
